Dr. Munir has been a Consultant in Pain Medicine and Anaesthesia at the University Hospitals of Derby & Burton since 2019 having completed his Pain Medicine training in the South London Deanery between King College Hospital and Guy’s & St Thomas' Hospital, London. He underwent postgraduate training in Anaesthesia in Pakistan before undergoing structured clinical training in Anaesthesia in Ireland. Dr. Munir has experience of treating wide range of pain conditions. His areas of interest are low back pain, sciatica, neck pain, headaches, musculoskeletal pain, cancer pain, complex regional pain syndrome, fibromyalgia, chronic post-surgical pain and joint pain conditions.
He is proficient in using ultrasound for regional anesthesia and performs various X-ray and ultrasound-guided interventional pain procedures. This includes spinal injections like epidurals, facet joint injections, diagnostic nerve blocks, radiofrequency denervation, nerve root blocks (Lumbar), peripheral nerve blocks and ultrasound-guided trigger point injections. He also performs radiofrequency ablative procedures to treat low back pain and other joint conditions including shoulder, knee, and hip joints. Multidisciplinary pain management is also offered for chronic pain conditions.
Dr. Munir possesses 3 years of teaching experience in international programs focused on Pain Medicine and Anaesthesia. He is also actively involved in different training activities in Midlands Deanery.
